eirenical: (Hair -- Berger: And.... Me!)
OK, so I totally want to blather on and on and on about how awesome this weekend was. I saw Priscilla, Queen of the Desert three times -- the first two of which were on the same day and the last time of which was opening night. If you have not seen this show, you must go see it!! I mean it. You must. *_*

Anyway. I want to, but I'm not going to. I've already blathered on about it on FB and Twitter... and I'm losing the coherency needed to do a review justice on LJ. So, instead, I'll leave you with this:

You know you're obsessed when...

Ricky P. Berger is getting married isn't he, looking forward to seeing you and everyone else, it's been too long.

...you see this on your friend's FB wall about their Cancun vacation and your first thought is:

"OMG, you know Berger and you didn't introduce ME????" D: O_O D:

And your second thought is:

"And where the hell is he getting married? It's not legal in NY, yet!" *sweatdrop*

*twitch* I need help.

And in other random news... I kind of want to write a sequel to Invisible, now. I don't know why. O_O;;; And I totally feel another wave of general Hair fandom coming my way. *cracks knuckles* Ficcage, here we come!! :D :D

OK, one other random thing... I got an e-mail from ff.net tonight that let me know that a certain person put me on their author alert. I have been a fan of this person's writing for years -- since my time in the GW fandom. So, seeing that she actually likes my writing enough to add an alert for me... dude, I about went over the moon. ^____________^ Only... only... ff.net doesn't tell you why they added you! D: So, I have no idea what fandom I write in that even caught her eye in the first place! *twitch* ff.net's stats are less than helpful, sometimes. :-P *sigh* Ah well. No big. ^_^ I'll just keep on doing what I do. That's all I can do, after all. Hopefully, I won't scare anyone off.

'Night, all!

*deep breath* I've been thinking lately... this is not where I thought I'd be this time last year. My life has had some pretty dramatic upheavals in the last 12 months and it has led me down roads that I never thought I'd travel. And it has been one hell of an interesting journey. So, I thought I'd take a brief exploration of the trip, a little comparison of where I've been at Rosh Hashanah's past and present.

Cut for excessive rambling. Hey, it's my LJ, I'll ramble if I want. ^_^ )

*deep breath* In short... I've come a hell of a long way in a year. My life now bears almost no resemblance to my life of last year. And do you know something incredible? I don't miss that old life. That old me was depressed, tremendously overweight, had very few friends and had long since misplaced many of the things she used to love most about herself. This new me feels good, is energetic, has made some awesome new friends because she was brave enough to reach out to them and hold on once she had them, and has discovered and rediscovered a hoard of new hobbies and interests that she'd long since forgotten. She's happy. She has a purpose in life. She feels like she's moving forward into a bright new future when before there was only darkness. I can't even begin to express what an unbelievable feeling that that is. So, though I never thought I'd even think this, much less say it... I'm grateful for my back injury. I'm grateful for this year. Most of all, I'm grateful for my family and my friends, without whom I would never have made it this far.

L'shana Tovah tikateivu v'teichateimu! -- May you be written and sealed for a good year and thank you all so very much!

*coughs* OK, I'm not done. I need to brag about one last thing. ^_^

And I never thought that the single most exciting thing that would happen to me on Rosh Hashanah 5771 would be that I would buy tickets to go see Hair for a sixth time... in New Haven... on October 23rd, 2010. That's right, folks -- I have my tickets!!! :D [livejournal.com profile] zoicite was kind enough to let me bully her into coming with me. I have had butterflies in my stomach and a racing heart ever since I gave the lady on the phone my credit card number. To quote myself... "It's been too long. My heart is too full for words." And to paraphrase from my people...

"Next year in Jerusalem, sure... But next month in New Haven, first!" ;D ;D

I don't know why I'm awake. I don't even know why I'm posting this.

1) Man, I love Abe Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party! *_* I saw it again tonight and really wish it wasn't closing tomorrow. That's two of my favorite shows gone in the span of 24 hours. *turns eyes eastward across the Atlantic* ;_; Eyes look your last...

2) Cut for TMI )

OK... I think I'm done, now. *unsure but game smile*

[livejournal.com profile] zoicite... that was not nice. It really wasn't nice.

*eyes the 1,009 words of fic she has written and sighs*

Damn it.

*kicks another plot bunny off her leg* I'm working as fast as I can! Keep your pants on!

8:24 PM -- 1,924 words... O_O *sweatdrop*

9:50 PM -- 2,765... Good grief. I sense the start of another monster. *desperately attempts to curtail this thing before it gets away from her*
eirenical: (Hair -- Crissy -- Innocence)
So, this has turned into Broadway week for me -- or "off-Broadway" as the case may be. ^_^ I was originally slated to see Lend Me a Tenor for the second time this past Tuesday (just as hysterically funny as the first time -- go see it before it closes!) and Falling for Eve tomorrow, both with my mother. For her, that's already a lot in one week. She prefers to spread out her viewings. ^_^ *wistful sigh* I remember those innocent days... *eyes a [livejournal.com profile] msorange21* ...I've since been corrupted. ;-D

So, the point. ^_^ At the end of last week, I was invited to see yet another show this week: Abraham Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party. It just opened off-Broadway on the 27th with an official opening date of Aug. 11th. Through an incredible set of coincidences, I ended up going with [livejournal.com profile] zoicite as a last minute replacement for a friend of hers that couldn't go. I must say, I'm intensely amused that all of the new friends I make these days a) seem to be met at Broadway shows and b) don't live in the same state I do. O_O *laughs* Just my luck, huh? At least they're close enough that visiting isn't so hard and meeting in the city is fairly easy. ^_^

Anyway, she, being a very brave lady, invited me to come along with her in the hopes of making a new friend. And we had a total blast! ^_^ She's just as sweet in person as she is on LJ and the show was fantastic. It has a very unique set-up. It's a three act play with an opening scene and an ending scene. The three acts in between, however, are played in a different order each night, depending on audience selection. And depending on what order you see those scenes in, your opinions on what is going on in the show and your sympathies for the characters can vary widely. It makes for an interesting performance.

On top of that, the story is very comedic and yet very moving at the same time. In spite of myself I found myself liking each one of the characters, even the ones I started out hating. The acting was a little shaky in one or two spots (i.e. a muffed line here and there), but being as it was only their third performance, I'm willing to cut them quite a bit of slack. ^_^ I can only assume they'll get better with time. I'd love to say more, but I don't want to spoil the show. So, all I will say is check out the website, I highly recommend it and go see the show! :D

*firmly tells herself that she will not fic for Jerry*

*...or Anton*

Not.

Aw heck.
