eirenical: (JCS -- Superstar)
I have had one HECK of a Memorial Day/Weekend. How about you? ^_^

In short... I kind of really love JCS. I kind of especially love this cast of JCS.

...and at this moment, they aren't going to be getting a cast recording. That is just plain unacceptable, no matter what the reason.

So, at the risk of crossing my fan life here, with my real life there... after some gentle nudging, I started a petition. We've gotten 213 signatures in JUST 14 HOURS, guys.

And I want more. ^_^

Sign? Help spread the word? You know you want to... ;)

We Want a JCS 2012 Broadway Revival Cast Recording!

Gavin Creel's NOISE video is live on Youtube!!

This video is so powerful that I don't even have the words to express how I feel about it. The images contained within and the message Gavin is expressing in it broke my heart and rebuilt it multiple times in the span of 6 minutes. My admiration for this man just continues to grow and grow and grow. And Andrew Keenan-Bolger is a brilliant director. I'm in awe of them both. I dare you to watch this video and not get even a little choked up.

It's time to put a stop to the madness. Please watch. Buy the single. Make some NOISE. It's time to put a stop to the madness.

And for those who just want the specifics of where I am...

First glimpse of me, right up front next to my friend, S. I'm in the tie-dye shirt and dark skirt, three from the right.

The beginning of the line before we all appear. We appear at 4:03 and you can see me several times after that in the same general location as you did in the still-ish frame.

OK, the migraine hasn't materialized yet, thank G-d. Hopefully it won't.

On another note? I saw a link on Broadway Impact's FB page that I just had to share. Apparently, our favorite Kansas nutjob, Fred Phelps, tried his usual picketing shtick in California... and the students responded by having an old school sing-along/be-in/love-fest right across the street. So much love for this idea, I can't even say. I especially loved the "Jesus had 2 dads" poster. ^_^ Take that, Fred Phelps!

Link to the youtube video: Lowell Students Dance Away Hate Group
When Fred Phelps' hate group pickets at Lowell High School in San Francisco, students rally to show their love for their diverse, inclusive community.

And someone else responded at the original Broadway Impact post with this video of another HS doing the same thing: youtube video -- looks like dear Fred is getting his arse handed to him all across California. ^_^ I couldn't be happier.

So... many people on my f-list are participating in [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti (the fandom drive to raise money to help those suffering in the wake of the earthquake). I think that's fantastic. ^_^ It's the sort of thing that makes me glad I'm part of fandom. Thing is... I'm impatient. O_O If I decide to act on something, I'd like to do it now... and I'm a little ashamed that it took me several days of hearing about this disaster to do something about it.

Punchline? By all means, if you want to participate in the fundraisers, do so -- they're great, and as already noted, I'm proud that we're doing it. ^_^ Or? Just get off your collective asses and donate something directly. If everyone on LJ donated a dollar? Or $2? Or $10? Think what a difference that would make.

That's all. ^_^

Doctors without Borders -- where I donated.

And here's a few other choices gathered by [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, including (but not limited to) the Red Cross.
