eirenical: (Hair -- Paris & Steel: So. Much. Love.)
Been a little while since I had a real update post, huh? Life has been... well. Life. *shrugs* Keeping busy, no real complaints. Major moments? I went to the League of Broadway Super Friends concert at Le Poisson Rouge on June 7th and fell in love. Gavin Creel is always wonderful and I'll probably watch him in, well... anything. I expected to love Sherie Renee Scott and Kelli O'Hara, always have liked them, anyway, and I knew that Greg Naughton was Kelli O'Hara's husband. The only person on that stage that was an unknown quantity was Lindsay Mendez. Oh. My. G-d. O_O WHERE HAS HER VOICE BEEN ALL MY LIFE??? She has this unbelievable jazzy/soul type quality and she sings the hell out of everything. People just don't sing like that anymore. It's impossible not to get completely absorbed in everything she sings. And it's not just her voice. She puts her entire body and facial expression into everything. She's so much fun to watch! I'm rapidly becoming obsessed with her rendition of "Freedom of the Road".

Here. Have an embedded video. ^_^ )

You see what I mean?? *_* Love. Her. There are 7 more videos on her Vimeo Channel. Go watch all of them. They're all fantastic. *_*

In other news... somehow I've been tricked into writing Book of Mormon slash. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but I'm pretty sure it's [livejournal.com profile] zoicite's fault somehow. *pause* Have you noticed lately that all the fics I'm writing are someone else's fault? Huh. Funny, that. Well. Except for the Claude-and-Berger-in-their-mid-40s-overheated-apartment-sex that I'm writing. I blame myself completely for that one. ^________________^

Oh, and last but not least... my June Concert for chorale is tonight and I'm singing my first real solo ever!! (It's parts of "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera, BTW. *_*) And I just found out that I get to reprise it for tomorrow's Bay S. Arts Festival. So. Psyched!! :D :D

Later, dudes!
eirenical: (Hair -- Woof puppy face)
Sorry about the delay. :-P Yesterday was beyond hectic. Fun, but hectic. ^_^ Mini-concert at the festival went really well. The festival itself was great fun, too. ^_^ And I even got to explore a good half of it before the rain started! *wry grin* Fortunately, I had my chorale folder to protect my head on the walk back to my car. ^_^ Also found this really nifty store on Main Street. They had a booth in front of their store that had "peace" bumper stickers, handmade patchwork bags with embroidered stars and peace signs and lots of other cool things. I went into the store and it just had a lot of spiritual kinds of things in there: incense, handmade beaded coin purses, stones and crystals, books on everything from meditation to Christian theology, even some about Judaism. They also had some beautiful hand-made jewelry. Why do I find stores like this three weeks before I'm going to move? O_O *sigh*

Anyway, once I was done with that, it was off to the parents' for chicken curry and playing with my niece. Also made my first piece of hemp jewelry. Uncle and parents were impressed. ^_^ Does a day get more awesome than that? :D I thought not. =^_^=

Fandom: Hair, the musical: 2009 Revival
Pairing: *sweatdrop* All over the place. Berger x Woof, Berger x Jeanie, Berger + Sheila. *chuckles* Berger was gettin' around this fic... ^_^
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 8,640
Warnings: Slash. ^_^ Got the gen out of my system with the last fic. ^_^

Disclaimer: Neither the musical nor the boys belong to me, if they did they'd be groping each other on sta--. *pause* *blinkblink* Huh. Look at that... they do. *eg* :D ((Hair was written by James Rado and Gerome Ragni with music by Galt MacDermot.))

Summary: It's been two years since George met Woof. Those two years have changed him dramatically, but he still isn't ready to give up being the man his parents want him to be. Unfortunately for him... that isn't always a choice.

Donna -- Part 2 )

Questions, comments, piney apples?

What? I've been playing .hack infection lately. So sue me. ^_^

O_O Got back from chorale, totally energized and a little scattered, like I usually am. No more writing happened. :-P Couldn't even focus enough to play a game of spider solitaire. I'll try again in the morning when I'm less tired. O_O

*thud*
eirenical: (I Can Find Temptation)
O_O I'm actually gonna do this. I'm really going to do this. O_O There's an open casting call at 8:00 in Plainview for "The Rocky Horror Show"... and I'm gonna go audition. O_O

Probably nothing will come of it... but at least I can say I tried. ^_^

Needless to say, since there is actually something I need to fix in Part 5 of the new Hair fic (and why I didn't catch it until today I don't know :-P), it probably won't get posted until either very late tonight or tomorrow.

-.-;;; Sorry! -.-;;;

Once I'm all dolled up, I'll try to make a video of me singing my audition piece -- well, at least I'll record the sound part. ^_^ Then maybe I'll even post it for your torture listening pleasure. *sheepish grin*

7:00 PM OK... For those of you who would like to assail your ears... Here's the video. O_O

Week 24

Apr. 5th, 2010 10:39 pm
eirenical: (MD -- Adam "Hell Yeah!")
Oops. Missed last week's weigh-in entirely. *sweatdrop* Then again, since I was out of state then in a car accident, I think I'll forgive myself. ^_^

Good news? Over the two weeks since my last weigh-in, I lost 1.6 lbs. *cheers* People, I think I'm finally back on track! *beams* That makes a total of... *drumroll* ...33.4 lbs! *throws confetti* And I made my 15% -- that means that I have lost 15% of the weight that I was originally carrying 6 months ago. *bows* Thank you, thankyouverymuch. ^_^

Now if only my body would make up it's mind what size pants it wants to be in. -.-;;; I have a freakin' job interview on Wednesday and I can't find a single pair of slacks in my wardrobe that fits. Which wouldn't be a problem if I could find a pair in a store that fit. O_o;;; I never realized how much I relied on the fact that I could walk into Lane Bryant and pick up a pair of size 18 (or 20 :-P) pants and know they would fit. Now that I don't fit in their sizes anymore (and my sister's forbidden me to shop there ever again...), I find myself in a quandary. Ironically, I find I don't mind. I just don't want to spend $40 on a pair of pants that I may never wear again. -.-;;;

And while we're on the subject, why do women's sizes have to be so variable to start with, huh? Back me up, girls -- how much do you hate walking into a store with a man and watching him pick up a pair of pants? It's fascinating and jealousy-inducing at the same time. They walk in, pick up a pair of pants/jeans/shorts/whatever... and go to the register to buy them without ever trying them on. Why? Because men's pants are actually sized according to measurements. They can walk in and pick up a pair of pants in their size and just know, with 99% surety, that those pants will fit, every time, no trying on required. :-P Sometimes that just makes me sick. *sigh* Stupid men. Proof positive that they control the fashion industry. :-P

Anyway, this got off topic quite some time ago, so I'm gonna shut up. I will just leave you with this parting shot... the June Chorale concert is going to kick major ass. :D As a sample, three of the songs we're doing are "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah," "In the Mood" and "Everybody Rejoice" from "The Wiz." I am so excited for this concert! ^_____________^
eirenical: (Inuyasha -- osuwari -- stray_wind)
Oh. My. G-d.

*falls over*

The Mozart Requiem is like the vocal equivalent of running a marathon. *whimper* The man (or would that be men?) does like his fugues. @_@;;;

And being the second half of the concert? Not. Cool.

Soooooooooooooo tired right now.

But fuck, it was worth it. *satisfied smile*

So for those few of you who are curious (*waves to the Melissa*), both concerts went extremely well. ^_^ I'm really glad they did. Carmina is one of my favorite choral works of all time and this is the first time I've gotten to sing it with a full orchestra. Also, the soloists... oh, dear G-d, the soloists... *snickers* Vocally, they were each worth their weight in gold, but in addition to that, they understood what Carmina is all about. And they hammed up every minute of it!

So why do I love Carmina so much? Well, the melodies are really beautiful and the lyrics are just flat out hysterical. The movements range in meaning from "Oh, woe is me, fate is a soulless wheel crushing me into the dirt" to "Please, G-od, look with favor upon me taking the virginity of the pretty young maid." *snerks* What's really incredibly funny is how many people go to sing or listen to this piece and don't know what it means. XD As far as I'm concerned, that's at least half the fun! After all, how can you sing something if you don't know what you're singing? ( Translation: Fake Cut! )

And I can almost guarantee that you've all heard at least Movement 1 of Carmina Burana, even if you don't know it. ( Here, I'll prove it: Another fake cut! ) OK, technically that's the first two movements... but you get the idea. ^_^

Anyway, the gushing about "Carmina" aside, I had an interesting anecdote to share as well. We were all sitting in the rehearsal room waiting for 8 PM to roll around so we could warm up. I was in a corner quietly rehearsing some lyrics and listening to someone plucking along on the piano... when I became aware that I was humming along with the piano player. *???* I recognized the music but couldn't place from where. I disturbed me because usually I place music fairly easily. This one was really giving me trouble, though. Finally, when he finished playing it... it clicked. I just hadn't noticed it sooner because I wasn't expecting to hear it in the midst of my 170+ person chorus the night before a classical concert. ( It was the opening theme to FFX! ) *much snerking* I headed over to the piano to talk to the guy playing. He was cute -- very young, but cute -- and he got this very excited look of "Geek notices that, OMG! Some normal looking girls are also gaming freaks! Cool..." on his face. ^_^ All in all, it was a fun moment for me. XD

*coughs* Anyhoo... now that I've taken up way more of your time... *eyes post* ...and mine, than I should... I'm gonna go. ^_^ *waves* Ja mata ne!

And... stealing a meme from Seimei on the way out... ^_^

Real cut this time! )

Short note about much excitement tonight. ^_^ I'm going to be singing at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE with the DE Symphony Orchestra. *_* Well, not me alone... me with my choral group (all 120 of us or so). Anyway, we're singing my favorite choral work (Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff) and I'm very excited! So much so, that I'm completely incoherent! *beams*

Fake cut to DSO website for the concert webpage ^_^

*bounciebounciebouncie* I would spend more time squeeing about the music itself... but I'm running otu of time. :-P Going to go put my gown on and hustle off, now. *waves* Later!
