So, in an effort to trick myself into eating healthier and, thus, losing weight, I have decided to start packing my own bento for lunch. ^_^ I'm finding it to be tremendous amounts of fun and have decided to post pictures of some of them so you can enjoy them, too! ^_^

First Bento! Onigiri
First Bento!
Not actually having a bento, I opted to use to tupperware containers with interlocking lids.
Onigiri
I made these onigiri using the method described on "Just Hungry" using plastic wrap. It's much easier than the traditional way and the only real difference is using a piece of plastic wrap between your hand and the rice! For those of us whose hands burn easily, it's great! ^_^ Stuffing on the onigiri is a piece of smoked salmon that I broiled (like the crunch ^_^) in a toaster oven.

Isn't it pretty? ^_^ The brown folded bits are a traditional tamagoyaki (recipe found on "Just Bento" -- a fantastic resource if you're going to get into making bento). This is usually a side dish made with 1 egg, but I liked it so much I made it with 2 eggs and used it as the main dish. ^_^ The green is some blanched spinach and I garnished the corners with red grape tomatoes.

The onigiri, still conveniently wrapped in their plastic wrap -- and yes, they stayed together quite nicely when unwrapped -- with two radishes garnishing the empty corners.

Oh, and a ziesen Pesach to all! *snugs* ((...even if it's a few hours early... ^_~))

Oooh, those look amazingly yummy! Nutritious, and a work of art at the same time! ^-^

And.. I don't know the appropriate way to wish you and yours a happy Passover, but the sentiment is there! *hugs*

Yum! I need to start taking my lunch again. Eating out is starting to make it almost impossible to zip up my dress pants. Grarg. Your bentos look great!

Also, Chag S'Meach! Matzoh and cream cheeeeese time! <- and I wonder why I cant' get my pants zipped ¬_¬

:-P I know what you mean. My wake up call was when my scrub pants were all too tight. -.-;;; Scrub pants should never be tight. :-P *g* I'll keep posting pictures to inspire you! ^_^

^_^ And I hope you had a pleasant seder tonight! Ours was fairly small -- me, my parents, my Uncle, my sister and her husband -- but it was still really nice. ^_^ And hey -- if you can't splurge a little on non-carb items at Passover, when can you? *eg*

Don't they, though? ^_^ And they were yummy. ^_^

And "Happy Passover" will generally do it. *g* I'll make sure to pass along your wishes to the rest of the family. Also, a "Happy early Easter" to you and yours!

BTW, how's the little beta doing? Have a name yet? ^_^
