Forgive me in advance -- coherency is out the window. I'm in too much pain to try.

So, for anyone interested: About a week and a half ago, I hurt my back at work. Not the, "Oo, that smarts, I'll be sore for a couple of days." I mean the, "Holy Hell, mother-f***er I'm going to be flat on my back screaming and crying for a couple of weeks." *sigh* And on top of that, on the day I finally decided to go to the ER because I couldn't take the pain anymore, I also started the worst, most crampy period I've had in 4 years. And since they opted to put me on oral steroids for my back, all of my favorite non-steriodals (Advil, Aleve, etc.) were then off limits because I don't want a bleeding stomach ulcer on top of everything else.

So, on Thursday, I finally hauled myself to the ER. Pluses: this ER is actually competant. They had me in, seen by a PA, and done within 2 hours. I mean totally processed and out the door. *stares* I was impressed. The PA was also really easy on the eyes. Now, if I could only make my body react to medications the way it's supposed to, we'd all be good. *sigh* Narcotics either do nothing (i.e. codeine) or make me puke without doing anything for the pain (i.e. Vicodin, Dilaudin, Percoset, etc.). And then there's my ever-favorite: muscle relaxers (i.e. Skelaxin, Valium, etc.). They have this wonderful effect where they make me feel like I have the flu: headachy, mild nausea, dizzy, painful all over, unable to hold a coherent thought in my head with the wonderful side effect that they do nothing for the pain and nothing to relax the muscle.

*bangs head against the wall* So I see the back specialist --cut really long story because I'm rapidly losing the ability to sit up straight-- and he adds Lidoderm patches to the regimen. The idea being that they numb pain and make everything wonderful. The unfortunate side effects? They don't stay put, so I spend all day twisting to make them stay put; every time I shift, they make the entire right side of my back tingle and crawl like someone dumped spiders on it; the whole sensation on my skin gives me such a case of the heebie-jeebies that every single muscle on my right side (including the ones that weren't a problem before) is now tight and painful. *clenches fists* I give the fuck up. Can I just have my epidural steroid shot now? *whimper* *thud*

...And my sister's wedding is in less than 2 weeks. Glory Hallelujah. Someone shoot me now.

P.S.: And through all of this, I get my coworking doctor all but accusing me of faking an injury just to make her life more stressful. Because, naturally, everything in this world is about her. I need a new damned career. I'm not cut out for this one. *more crying and whimpering*
