Most pulled from within the letter and I’d forgotten to move them, one or two edited for clarity, and one or two because I thought of them as I was adding the prompts to the Yuleporn and Crueltide posts. Drive Me Crazy (1999)
Characters: Chase Hammond, Nicole Maris Ray Neeley

So, this is a request that I’ve been meaning to make for years and years and years, and somehow never get around to. BUT THIS IS THE YEAR. FINALLY.

Note: I love both Dave and Judy and love them together, so if you’d like them to show up, by all means, please do, just please keep them a couple. ^_^

What I really, really love about these three is how much they all love and support each other. They understand each other in ways that a lot of the other characters don’t understand any of them, and that goes for all three relationships. It’s Nicole who stands up for Ray after the video on the morning announcements. It’s Ray who tries to remind Chase of who he really is underneath the scam. And it’s Chase Ray turns to any time he needs someone. There is just SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE.

And don’t get me started on the whole “I was going to ask to cut in, where’s Ray?” “Oh, he just left, but if you hurry you might catch him! ^_^” ...you can’t tell me Nicole doesn’t see what’s going on. ;D And I’m just honestly a sucker for a character who loves someone else so deeply that they’ll willingly step back just to give them a chance at happiness.

And I WANT TO SEE RAY GET SOME HAPPINESS, TOO.
Prompts:

1. After the centennial party, Chase and Nicole realize that something’s missing, and go after Ray to ask him to cut back in, so to speak. ^_^
2. Maybe they meet up again later in college or after college, and Ray still doesn’t have anyone he’s settled down with, maybe his life isn’t where he wants it to be, and he runs into one or both of them and certain truths come to light.
3. Ray creates a music video that is so clearly a story of their high school almost-romance, the story of a boy pining for his best friend and his best friend’s girlfriend, and in the end the two end up together and the boy ends up alone, and lonely. And Chase and Nicole see the video, because everyone does, and realize that maybe they need to look him up and revisit the ending that inspired the video.
4. Maybe we’re at the VMA awards and Ray shows up with both of them on his arms to support him, because they are already a happy threesome? ^_^
5. I… honestly don’t really have anything else. XD Just however you want to get the three of them together, GO FOR IT.

First, though… can I interest you in my brahmwell x elmont tumblr tag? ;D (It’s short, I promise.)
Prompts:
1. KING AND LIONHEART KING AND LIONHEART KING AND LIONHEART.
a. I HAVE SUCH A FEALTY KINK. I just… I don’t even know what to say beyond that. But these two EXEMPLIFY that trope SO MUCH. And I’d love to see more of it.
2. I am a complete sucker for hurt/comfort and sick!fic, especially for characters who are the ones usually doing the caregiving/protecting, like Elmont. Maybe he gets injured on duty or maybe he just gets sick and has to let Brahmwell take care of him for a change? How does he handle that? Seeing the king waiting on him?
3. I could see it starting out as Elmont just wanting to do whatever it takes to make the other person happy. He’s very much a product of a vassal mentality, where everything he does is to make his ruler happy and keep them safe. But then, over time, he slowly realizes that he isn’t just a convenience, that Brahmwell wants him because he’s HIM, that they see him as an equal, that he is valued. I just want to see Elmont happy. ^_^
4. This is probably one of the few fandoms I wouldn’t mind a bit of AU for. I love that snapshot into the future they show of the Crown in modern day England. I’m also a sucker for reincarnation fic. Maybe Elmont and Brahmwell get reincarnated into the present day and the giants once more become a threat? What do they do? How does that go down? Do they have their memories? Maybe one of them remembers and the other doesn’t? There’s some delicious angst potential down that road. ^_~ Or maybe the giants aren’t a threat. How do they meet? Do they have their memories? Honestly, I’d be happy with a meet-cute here, too. ^_^ Because as much as I love my angst, I also really want them to be able to claim a little happiness for themselves. ^_^
Yuleporn/Crueltide Prompts:
1. What if Elmont hadn’t gotten onto the beanstalk before the army cut it down? What if the other bean had been lost? What if he’d been trapped on the giants’ island alone with the giants, forced to run and hide, constantly keeping one step ahead of them, lest he become dinner or a plaything? What would that do to him? (And, feel free to take that as dark as you want to—torture, noncon, tentacle porn (hey, who knows what else lives up there? There are giants with two heads, after all!), are all fair game. Or if you want to just stay on the psychological trauma aspect, that’s fine with me, too!) Does he ever find a way back to Earth? If so, does he return to Cloister? What kind of shape is he in when he does? Has Brahmwell been trying to get him back? Does he help put him back together, when he *does* get back?
2. What would the land be like if the giants had won? What if humanity became a captive and/or hunted species? Was Elmont captured or did he escape? Who else might still be alive? How about a giant apocalypse scenario, instead of a zombie apocalypse? (Feel free to take that one to a really dark place, if you like.)

Thermos "Flower Series" Commercials

To start with, if we didn’t match on this fandom, and none of my prompts on the one we did match are appealing to you, this is a very quick fandom to pick up. It’s about 7 minutes worth of commercials. ^_^ Basically, the Thermos people really did just look at each other and say "If we've managed to get Zhu Yilong to agree to promote our products, then damn it, we are going to make the best use of him we can!" and then gave him a bunch of mini-movies to act in. ;D

What really appeals to me about these commercials is the sheer world-building potential. I saw the Gardenia commercial first, and it had me at "here is this person who has magic portal powers and uses them to... wander the city and solve everyone's sadnesses and worries by being a... Fairy... Thermos... Father...???" And then each successive commercial I saw just compounded the potential, especially if we assume that this Wanderer/Magician character is the same character in each commercial. (Though the thought of them all being the same world and same character does appeal to me, if one of the commercials in particular appeals to you more than the others, and you’d rather look at it as its own world, that’s fine by me, too.)
Prompts:
1. What kind of magic does he have?
2. How do these worlds connect to each other?
3. Do the people of these worlds know about the magic that helps and protects them?
4. In the snow-covered worlds that the Magician brings light to (Sunflower and Camellia), how did they end up so dark and cold to begin with? Why did the Magician come to them?
5. How does he know who needs help?
6. Is he alone out there? Are there others like him? What are their interactions like? (Bonus crossover idea: Xiao Zhan did a very similar commercial to the Gardenia commercial for bubly, where he runs around helping people solve their problems with the magic of soft drinks. If it strikes your fancy to play with that, I’d definitely be on board. ^_^)
7. Tell me about someone he helped, maybe on Gardenia world. Does he check up on them later? Do they know who he is? Is he a known cryptid or more like someone who blends into the background? Are there sightings boards? Internet theories? People wishing on their Thermoses to get his attention? I want to know! (This could be a fun place for an outsider POV on him. ^_^)
8. In the Wisteria and Peony ads, he’s filled with such wonder, coming into these beautiful garden worlds. Are these worlds that he’s healed? New worlds? Resting places? That wonder is almost childlike in nature; has he never seen a world undamaged like these?
9. In both the Gardenia and Wisteria commercials, he seems to have animal companions. I… I don’t have any suggestions for what to do with that, but it’s adorable and I thought you should know, and if you WANT to do something with that, please feel free. ^_^ (...if you wanted to play with a Guardian crossover idea, Da Qing would make an ADORABLE animal companion, don’t you think? XD Maybe he got stuck on Haixing way back when, this powerful, yet somehow far too innocent Magician, and lost his memory? I always love a Guardian crossover, so feel free to go down that road, if it strikes your fancy. ^_^)
10. There could also be some fun crossover potential with the Time Engraver commercials, if you wanted to go there. ^_^

Yeah, so basically, these commercials are a lot of fun and there’s so much potential there, and I’d love to see what you can do with them!

OK, so the first thing you need to know is that DMBJ and TLTR have… kind of become my main fandom this year. So I have a LOT of ideas and a lot of feels and a lot of things to say. Please don’t let that intimidate you, though! The main side effect is 1) the HUGE amount of feels and 2) the fact that picking between Wu Xie’s father and Xiao Hua was painful. So, if you want to include Xiao Hua (Xie Yuchen), I would be perfectly happy to see him included if you so choose, but you are in no way obligated to include if you don’t want to.

Ships I like: Pingxie (Wu Xie x Zhang Qiling), Wu Xie x Xie Yuchen
A note on the Iron Triangle:
I have read and enjoyed both Iron Triangle OT3 and Pangxie fic, however, my preferred configuration for them is Wu Xie/Xiaoge + Pangzi. Without going into personal details that you don’t need, Pangzi and Wu Xie’s friendship is so important to me AS A FRIENDSHIP. I love the way the lines blur between them, the way they don’t seem to have any concept of “personal space,” the way they touch each other and love each other thoroughly, completely, and unapologetically… AS FRIENDS. There is no question that Pangzi and Wu Xie’s relationship is just as important as Wu Xie and Xiaoge’s in canon, even though it isn’t sexual (...though TECHNICALLY Pingxie’s relationship in canon isn’t, either, now that I think about it XD). It’s just so important to me that they’re ALLOWED to be that close and it isn’t sexual. They are friends and that is portrayed as just as important as (if not MORE important than) any romantic or sexual relationships that may come along. Pangzi isn’t lacking in his life, because he doesn’t have a romantic/sexual partner. He’s fulfilled living with the Iron Triangle, and it doesn’t have to be an aro/ace thing; he’s just content the way he is. If someone comes along that he wants to date, Wu Xie is completely supportive and an AMAZING wingman, but ultimately I don’t think Pangzi is unhappy with things the way they are. Had Piaopiao not come along, he’d have been perfectly content with what he had.

So. I’m not going to go as far as to DNW Pangxie or Iron Triangle OT3… but it’s really not my preference.

This is going to be a bit of a choose-your-own-character combo situation. You don’t have to include all four requested characters. Any combination of Wu Xie with the other three (or all of them) is welcome. (A few exceptions made for combinations involving Wu Yiqiong. ^_^)

1. I have a GIGANTIC meta love letter brewing about Wu Xie’s father and I love him more and more with everything I read about him. I maintain that he is the sensitive himbo of the Wu family and that IS a hill I will die on. He’s a geologist. He has absolutely nothing to do with and no knowledge of ANY of the Jiumen/grave robbing business, and the few times he gets even peripherally entangled he kind of… freaks out and faints a bit. OTZ But our first introduction to him in canon is when Wu Xie calls him in the last book when he’s sad about missing Xiaoge… and his father IMMEDIATELY says “Xiao Xie, are you lovelorn? You know you can tell your dad anything that’s making you feel sad.” HE KNOWS. He knows his son is in love and sad about it JUST FROM THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE. TT^TT And let’s not even talk about how when he thinks Wu Xie is dead at the end of Sha Hai, he stays up all night just so he can go to the market and buy all of Wu Xie’s favorite foods and cook them for him, because he ALWAYS DOES and he ALWAYS WILL and he just MISSES HIS SON and I’M SORRY I’M GETTING EMOTIONAL--
a. *coughs* I have… more than a healthy helping of feelings about Wu Yiqiong. SORRY. OTZ
2. ANYWAY. We also know from canon that he knows about Wu Xie’s prescheduled date to go pick up Xiaoge on August 17th. So, Wu Xie clearly talks to him and tells him things, even if he claims he doesn’t or that they aren’t close. Canon clearly tells us otherwise. So… now we finally get to the actual prompt amidst all these feels… XD
a. JUST GIVE ME MORE OF HIM. I honestly don’t even really care WHAT, just GIVE ME MORE OF THIS PRECIOUS SENSITIVE HIMBO WHO LOVES HIS SON. PLEASE. TT^TT
b. Wu Yiqiong visits Wushanju: Just… it would be hilarious. XD Wu Xie would be frantically trying to keep him from finding out about EVERYTHING about his life and the grave robbing and the times he almost DIED and meanwhile, Wu Yiqiong is just watching Wu Xie with Xiaoge and with Pangzi and is 1) so happy that his son is so well-loved and 2) slowly figuring out that Xiaoge is the one he was lovelorn about… and waited for for 10 years… and that maybe the reason his Xiao Xie is being so skittish is because he doesn’t want his father to know he’s gay? The potential for shenanigans and crossed communication until things come out is just ENORMOUS. XD Up to you if Wu Yiqiong finds out everything or just about Xiaoge, but I’d like him to at least figure out something and end up closer to his son. ^_^ (This would also be a great opportunity for an outsider POV fic. ^_^)
c. The Iron Triangle gets invited for the holidays at Wu Xie’s parents -- just… FOUND FAMILY FEELS, PLEASE. TT^TT
d. Wu Yiqiong finds out about Xiaoge and his relationship with Wu Xie, realizes that he is in DESPERATE need of a parental figure who actually cares for him and just… kind of adopts him. Xiaoge has no idea what to do with this. He’s quite a bit older than the man suddenly trying to parent him. Does he go along with it to humor Wu Xie? Does he maybe ACTUALLY get into it? Start poking Wu Xie to call his father more? What does Wu Xie think of all this? After all, it’s many people’s dream come true for their parents to approve that deeply of their significant others. But Wu Xie tries to keep his father separate from his life and this is NOT helping, I’m sure. XD Alternately, does this bring him closer to his father because YES. YES, XIAOGE NEEDS PAMPERING, I ALWAYS KNEW MY FATHER WAS SENSIBLE. GOOD FOR HIM.
e. You know the saying how men marry their mothers? I also maintain that Wu Xie platonically married his father. ;D Sensitive and loving and a really good cook… I’d love to see PANGZI get a chance at some good parental love and care, too. We never really hear about his parents (I think the implication is that they’re dead?), so maybe Wu Yiqiong kind of… adopts him too? Just imagine them in the kitchen together, discussing recipes and Wu Xie’s favorite foods and how hard it is to keep him out of trouble? TT^TT
3. Iron Triangle/Pingxie:
a. Bronze Door and the aftermath: if you want to jump in and go full-bore heartbreak mode over that separation and what was going through their heads at the time (or during the 10 years after, for that matter), I am SO down for that. Wu Xie goes through a pretty major depressive phase when Xiaoge is gone, and we see Pangzi being one of the only ones who can yank him out of that, periodically. What was that like for the two of them when Xiaoge was gone? What was it like when he came BACK? How does he fit back in with them? How does he reacclimate to the world? I’d just love to see the three of them supporting each other through that.
b. Post-meteorite amnesia: when Wu Xie and Pangzi pick up Xiaoge from the hospital after he loses his memory in book 6, and Xiaoge ends up staying with Pangzi for a while, there were OBVIOUSLY some shenanigans that happened there. (Pangzi bought him CHICKEN UNDERWEAR. CHICKENS. WHAT. WHAT EVEN. XD …omg, Pangzi was that a HINT???) ANYWAY, I know that canonically Wu Xie didn't spend much time with them then, but… what if he did? What if they all got to just… go out and do fun things? Introduce Xiaoge to foods or take him to amusement parks or just… anything to get him to loosen up a little and enjoy himself a little? And what did Xiaoge think about all of it? Was he able to let go and embrace this whirlwind of an overeager puppy who just fell into his life? Or was he conflicted about it? There's just so much potential for fun fluff/slice of life stuff there. ^_^

Prompts with non-requested characters:
So… I love Xiao Hua. I love him a LOT. And I love his “we’ve clearly been best friends since childhood and it shows in our every interaction” relationship with Wu Xie. Especially post-the main novels.

1. There are some REALLY lovely bits in Sha Hai: Wu Xie showing up on Xiao Hua’s doorstep bedraggled and exhausted and so strung out he can barely talk straight and showing up on Xiao Hua’s doorstep because he trusts him and feels at least a little bit safe with him when he really feels safe nowhere? Knowing that even if he’s changed, even if he’s hardened and isn’t quite the innocent Xiao Hua remembers, HE’LL STILL LOVE AND ACCEPT HIM AND SUPPORT HIM. And Xiao Hua takes him to that cafe and lays him down on the bench and TELLS HIM STORIES UNTIL HE FALLS ASLEEP?? Just… GAH. I CAN’T. I REALLY CAN’T, HALP. TT^TT So, yeah, anything along those lines where Xiao Hua is taking care of Wu Xie, because he’s SHIT at taking care of himself. Just those soft moments between them. TT^TT I LOVE TO SEE IT.
2. And then there’s the extra in the maze house where we get the absolute nonsense of
a. Wu Xie: I bet there’s something written on my butt! Xiao Hua, you have to look!
*Xiao Hua stares at Wu Xie’s ass* “...yeah, there’s blood.”
Wu Xie: The fuck, you say! I don’t have my period, YOU have your period.
Xiao Hua: ...no, I mean, the WRITING is in blood.
b. And it’s just SO OBVIOUS that these two have been friends since childhood and know all there is to know about each other. And even though, Xiao Hua is… kind of the scariest (and richest) fucker in the room in most rooms he enters, he has a soft spot for Wu Xie and that comes through in all their interactions and I love it. ^_^
Yuleporn Prompts:
So… Wu Xie is a kinky bitch in novel canon and we love to see it. ;D SO MANY INCIDENTS.

In Tibetan Sea Flower, there’s the incident with King Yama riding the dead -- he stands on Wu Xie’s back and breaks Wu Xie’s arm, and Wu Xie’s response is:
● Shit, King Yama riding the dead? This fucker was trying to ride me! Wasn’t this bastard supposed to be riding female corpses?!
“You motherfucker!” I cried. “Fatty, this guy wants me to do S&M! The bastard clearly can’t distinguish between men and women!””

And that's not even mentioning the times he
● fantasized about Xiaoge naked in a cage and wondered if the people who'd kept him that way used him for sex (*coughs* It is possible my subconscious made that very last bit up, but I will go fact check at some point, and we can pretend it’s accurate in the meantime, right? ;D ETA (12/22/2021): I completely forgot to come back and clear this up, but I did NOT imagine this, apparently, I just confused it in my head by mixing it with the A-kun storyline (Xiaoge being kept naked in a basket and used as zombie bait). XD So for future reference: it’s in Banai when they find out that Xiaoge used to live in a house there. What actually happens is that Wu Xie wonders if Xiaoge lived with an old woman there and that she might have used him as a sex slave for all that time, how tragic, oh noes, and then immediately blames Pangzi’s dirty jokes for his dubious thoughts. ;D) AND
● thought about the fact that Xiaoge seemed to have no sex drive and idly thought about feeding him APHRODISIACS to see what would happen.

And I think I might even be missing one, but HONESTLY THAT’S ENOUGH EVIDENCE, ISN’T IT? XD

Now, I do prefer a bottom!Wu Xie for porn prompts, but… I honestly could see this as him projecting? Maybe as something he wants to have happen to himself?

1. I could absolutely see Wu Xie fantasizing about those sorts of things. Maybe while Xiaoge is gone behind the Bronze Door? Maybe those fantasies keep him company, keep him grounded and tethered when he’s so lonely he feels like he’s going to fly apart. And maybe when Xiaoge comes back and they do get into a relationship, Wu Xie is careful to keep those fantasies from him, to keep their lovemaking soft, and gentle, and sweet and everything that those fantasies AREN’T.
2. Dealer’s choice if Xiaoge ever finds out and decides that maybe he DOES want to indulge in any of Wu Xie’s fantasies.
a. I can’t see Wu Xie actually doing those things to Xiaoge, though, especially after the Bronze Door, ESPECIALLY if Xiaoge offers, but I CAN see him turning it around and convincing Xiaoge to manhandle him a little. Or keep him naked and bound and desperate for the day while Xiaoge goes on about his business. ^_^
b. General kinks I enjoy for Pingxie: bondage, overstimulation, toys (i.e. object insertion, vibrators), body worship, soft sweet sex that’s so tender that one or both of them ends up crying.

A note on the Iron Triangle:
I have read and enjoyed both Iron Triangle OT3 and Pangxie fic, however, my preferred configuration for them is Wu Xie/Xiaoge + Pangzi. Without going into personal details that you don’t need, Pangzi and Wu Xie’s friendship is so important to me AS A FRIENDSHIP. I love the way the lines blur between them, the way they don’t seem to have any concept of “personal space,” the way they touch each other and love each other thoroughly, completely, and unapologetically… AS FRIENDS. There is no question that Pangzi and Wu Xie’s relationship is just as important as Wu Xie and Xiaoge’s in canon, even though it isn’t sexual (...though TECHNICALLY Pingxie’s relationship in canon isn’t, either, now that I think about it XD). It’s just so important to me that they’re ALLOWED to be that close and it isn’t sexual. They are friends and that is portrayed as just as important as (if not MORE important than) any romantic or sexual relationships that may come along. Pangzi isn’t lacking in his life, because he doesn’t have a romantic/sexual partner. He’s fulfilled living with the Iron Triangle, and it doesn’t have to be an aro/ace thing; he’s just content the way he is. If someone comes along that he wants to date, Wu Xie is completely supportive and an AMAZING wingman, but ultimately I don’t think Pangzi is unhappy with things the way they are. Had Piaopiao not come along, he’d have been perfectly content with what he had.

So. I’m not going to go as far as to DNW Pangxie or Iron Triangle OT3… but it’s really not my preference.

This is going to be a bit of a choose-your-own-character combo situation. You don’t have to include all four requested characters, the only one I absolutely want is Wu Xie. Any combination of him with the other three (or all of them) is welcome.

1. Iron Triangle:
a. Hurt/comfort | sick!fic: I am a real sucker for hurt/comfort and sick!fic and TLTR, in particular, is just… absolutely made for that, but I prefer it be Wu Xie who’s hurt. This can be for canonical illness reasons or some other situation.
b. Slice of Life/Domesticity: Just… honestly, slice-of-life domesticity at Wushanju is my JAM. This can be during canon or post-canon. Cuddle piles? Fireplaces? Finally taking Pangzi out for one of the many, many hot pots he’s owed? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES. TT^TT
c. Tomb shenanigans? Curses? There was only one cave? Road trip? (I’m perfectly happy for this to go post-canon with the Iron Triangle just getting a chance to relax and have a little bit of (their version of) fun. ;D)
d. I just honestly love the Iron Triangle. I love how close knit they are. I love how they’ve grown to depend on each other and have such blind TRUST in each other (the jumping down through the video game maze from HELL while FUCKING BLIND??? HELLO?). They really do function as a unit, even while maintaining their individuality, and I LOVE THAT.
e. Canon divergence: What if Xiaoge hadn’t stopped Wu Xie from telling Pangzi he was sick? Like… I know they did it for Drama ™ reasons, but… WHY. Why did Xiaoge stop him? I’d love to see how that could have gone if he hadn’t.
2. Wu Xie and Pangzi
a. Just… the whole bed sharing thing in the apartment. I CAN’T. *screams into a pillow* SO MUCH CUDDLING POTENTIAL. And that morning that they wake up and Xiao Bai is there? Just… more of those shenanigans would be amazing. XD For that matter, just… sorting out the whole sleeping situation even before that. I know they had that tussle in the beginning, and then Wu Xie ends up staying at Warehouse 11, but obviously they DID sort it out, right? Does someone hog the covers/pillows? Or do they just tumble in together in a happy pile like they’re huddling for warmth in a tomb?
b. Pangzi takes the whole thing VERY hard when he finds out Wu Xie is sick. And we see how desperate he is during the cement mixer truck incident. Just… anything getting into his head about all that would be lovely. (Just please don’t lean too hard on him feeling left out. Like, he can feel left out of getting the news, but don’t lean too hard into him feeling left out of the Iron Triangle, please.)
c. Does Wu Xie ever just… have a low energy/sick day? I’d love to see just… Pangzi taking care of him while they’re in the apartment together. I know sometimes they go the tough love route between them, but… maybe just this once, Pangzi convinces Wu Xie to let him spoil him, to make Pangzi feel better, of course. And Wu Xie really is hurting and sick and tired and actually lets himself go along with it.
3. Pingxie
a. I’d love to see how Wu Xie being sick changes things for them. Were they even together before he got sick? Did it happen after? What was it like to be apart for all that time? To be reunited?
b. What was it like for them to finally get back to Wushanju together? To come HOME? Does Xiaoge change the way he operates after that? In TLTR drama canon, they don’t (or haven’t yet) retired to Yucun, so do they maybe settle into a retirement of sorts at Wushanju? Does Xiaoge still leave sometimes or has he turned a bit more domesticated now that he’s had this experience of almost losing Wu Xie?
c. Get together/first time fic -- did they figure this out on their own or did Pangzi have to give them a nudge?

4. Wu Xie and Wu Erbai
a. Their relationship just FASCINATES ME. Wu Xie looks up to Ershu as more of a father figure than his own father (...if you’re interested in my feels about Wu Xie and his father, please see the DMBJ novel section of this letter. ;D), but there’s a bit of a give-and-take mischievous side to all of it. Wu Xie’s biggest influence, hands down, was Sanshu… but there’s a lot of Ershu in him, too. And Ershu obviously loves Wu Xie like a son: the way he goes so overbearing protective of him when he finds out Wu Xie is putting himself in danger/could get hurt/is sick? There’s a lot of love and fear underneath all that. Any exploration of that relationship would be wonderful. ^_^
b. Bonus idea: The potential for bonding over sexuality. Now, obviously in canon, they don’t. But what if they COULD? What if they DID? Because in the drama, to some extent, and in the novels, to a HUGE extent, Ershu is absolutely coded as gay. And Wu Xie… very much kind of is, too. And it always made me just a little sad that they never got to even talk about that. To bond over that. And I’d love to see it. ^_^

5. Piaopiao lives! PLEASE. TT^TT I’d love to see how she and Xiao Mei fit into life with the Iron Triangle at Wushanju post canon. Pangzi is a crush-laden DISASTER, but they are SO stinking cute together, I can’t even stand it. ^_^ How does she deal with the fact that her husband essentially… has two other husbands? (Platonically, sure, but in terms of time devoted… they’re all essentially married.) I could see her living quite happily restoring and repairing antiques at Wushanju, couldn’t you? ^_^
6. THE DESPERADOS. I love Xiao Bai, Jia Kezi, and Li Jiale A PERFECTLY REASONABLE AMOUNT. *coughs* I think Xiao Bai is a bb!lesbian in the making who just hasn’t had the opportunity to figure it out yet; thus her blazing crush on someone she knows is unattainable. And I ship Jia Kezi and Li Jiale a LOT. I’d love to see what all three of their interactions with the Iron Triangle are like after their adventure. (For that matter, what does Ershu think of them?) But seriously, Wu Xie’s tendency to just… adopt random people into his little found family never ceases to amuse me and I love to see it at play. ^_^
7. Huo Daofu: I have no words for how much I love his bitchy, prissy, ridiculously well-dressed little self. I am firmly on the train of him being Wu Xie’s bitchy ex, and even bitchier friend now that they’ve… kind of mended their fences. What was that like for him to have Wu Xie show up on his doorstep, three quarters dead? What was going through his head when he made the decision to go with them? What was it like for him nursing Wu Xie through that illness, knowing he was going to lose him, and even though he’d claimed that was what he WANTED… was it really? How did it feel to realize it wasn’t? And what does their relationship look like after Wu Xie is healed? I just love him, OK? ^_^

2. Wu Erbai: OK, SO. I love Ershu a PERFECTLY NORMAL AMOUNT. I do. Honest. ^_^ And I know I didn’t request Huo Erjing, but if you feel like including him, I absolutely love the relationship he has with Erjing. ...and I love how it ends. *eg* With Ershu, paralyzed and unable to communicate, in the hands of the man who paralized him (Erjing) with no way to escape or even tell anyone what happened to him. Did Erjing ever take advantage of that? Was he gentle? Maybe seeing this as just another way to “take care” of Ershu? Or was he rough? Taking full advantage of the fact that Ershu couldn’t fight back or even complain? Which was worse? Once he recovers, how does Ershu deal with that? Which is harder to recover from? The rape or the betrayal, itself?

I am cribbing this essentially whole and complete out of my letter from last year, because it was LONG and I still want all of it. So. ...enjoy? XD
I fell into this fandom out of Guardian in pursuit of more Zhu Yilong content. And... he's very, very pretty when he cries, and this series delivers on Luo Fusheng angst in SPADES, so I've been living here happily ever since. ^_^ (You could pretty much give me anything for this fandom, and I'd be over the moon that I'm not the only one writing for it. ;D)
In particular, what I love about Luo Fusheng is that he is just SUCH A GOOD. He may be the King of Hell on the outside, but on the inside, he is the softest, squishiest person on the show. His entire motivation throughout the show is to keep as many of his loved ones as happy as he can for as long as he can. And when he can't, you can see that it just kills him. He will forgive any and every slight against him, no matter how badly he's been hurt, as long as it will make the other person happy. And no matter how much he's suffering, he still manages to find a smile for everyone he cares about and I just... I go absolutely FERAL for characters like that. If you had picked out my every favorite character trait and stuck it in a character... you'd get Luo Fusheng. So, essentially, anything about him and this series would be wonderful.
● (Side note: If you are the type of person who likes to browse your recipient's AO3, please don't let the fic I've written for this fandom scare you off of it. There is dub/noncon abounding in what I've written, and while I am (clearly) into that for this series, it's not the only thing I'm into and I mean... it was for Whumptober. ^_^ *shrugs*)

1. Anything to do with Luo Fusheng and Mei Gao Mei would be wonderful. Was that his baby; did he create it? Or did it exist before he came along, and he just took it over? What kind of relationship does he have with the people who work there? The entertainers and the serving staff? Did they take him in as a wide-eyed youngster and teach him how their world works? I just love the idea of Luo Fusheng and the Mei Gao Mei people as a little network of found family. ^_^
a. Bonus: Fusheng figuring out that he’s bisexual with the help of one of the dancers, maybe? ^_~
2. Fusheng's nightmares. OMG, there's so much potential there. Some hurt/comfort maybe? Someone catching him mid-nightmare and helping him through it? We got a little of that with Tianying in canon, did it ever happen with anyone else? (I'd be OK with pretty much any other named character in the tagset for this idea.) Just the thought that he tries so hard to fend them off with Mei Gao Mei's bright lights and music and then with Tianying's voice, even going so far as to never sleep in his own bed, even when no one else is around. (Really, the only time we see him sleeping in his own bed, undisturbed by nightmares of his father's death is when he's unconscious from injury or illness... or when he's with Xingcheng. There's CERTAINLY a story there!)
3. Fusheng has built quite a reputation for himself in Dongjiang. He is feared by all other gangs (and many of the average citizens). He's taken on scores of men, alone, more than once, and beaten them all. Where did he even learn to fight like that? What was that training like?
a. (Or, hey, if you want an absolutely wild crossover idea... maybe it's inborn talent. Maybe he's secretly Shen Wei. Maybe he doesn't even KNOW he's Shen Wei. I COULD BE DOWN FOR THAT. Just saying. ^_^)
4. I'm also a bit obsessed with Fusheng's walking wounded self at the end of episode 15, right after that horrific movie confession that Hong Lan dragged him to. The look on his face... FUCK. He's just bleeding inside. What was that like for him? What happened when he went back to Mei Gao Mei? It was the first time he'd been back since before he was injured, and he slunk back there like he was desperately looking for a place to hide and lick his wounds. And I'D LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT.
5. And ANY kind of fix-it for the end would be WONDERFUL. How about an “everybody lives” fix-it? Please?
a. ...or this could be a fun place for a time-travel fix-it, if you wanted to indulge. ;D
6. A pet headcanon I'd love to see played out: I am obsessed with mixed reincarnation/immortality/etc. modern day stories. And the framing for this whole show always felt to me like it SHOULD have been a reincarnation story, but somehow wasn't. What if Cheng Musheng IS Fusheng somehow? Immortality, reincarnation, whatever you want to play with. And he remembers everything, and encounters any of the others in the present day, as his broken, bitter, angry alcoholic self? Do they remember too? Do they get a chance to help put him to rights? Would he even LET them? Anything like that could be fun with any of the other characters in the tagset. ^_^
7. (And I have to put this in here for crack's sake, but that AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL olive green polyester suit. DID HE LOSE A BET???? *shudders* HOW did that end up in his wardrobe? Seriously, that outfit is so hideous, there almost HAS to be a story behind it. XD)

2. Duan Tianying:
a. I love that they just genuinely enjoy each other's company, long before they're “together.” They are snarky little shits to each other, even once they've worked out their differences, and I LOVE IT.
b. I love, love, LOVE how respectful Fusheng is of Tianying's boundaries. Even down to: when every instinct he has must be SCREAMING at him to stay with her after Tianci's attack, he still backs away. He knows that she needs to be away from any men more than she needs him close, so he puts himself outside to protect her from a distance.
c. Honestly, they're so adorable I can't even STAND IT. My favorite part of the show with them is the Fusheng and Tianying show in Shikumen. They're RIDICULOUS and neither of them has really ever had to be a proper adult on their own and it SHOWS. But they somehow fumble through and figure it out together, and I LOVE that. Any curtain fic or slice-of-life from that era would be adorable. ^_^
3. Threesome variation: Luo Fusheng x Xu Xingcheng x Duan Tianying
a. Holy HELL did this show miss an incredible threesome opportunity. *_* Honestly, I love every side of this triangle. I love that when his father tried to make Xu Xingcheng pick between Fusheng and Tianying, he couldn't. I love that Tianying has an outlet for her wistful, girlish side in Xingcheng's courtly gallantry and an outlet for her wild, independent tomboy side in her battling with Fusheng. And I love how Fusheng just truly, genuinely wants the two people he loves the most to be happy. And if that means they're happy with each other without him? He's willing to step back. And the restaurant meeting after that disastrous night at Mei Gao Mei's reopening would have been a PERFECT opportunity for Tianying and Xingcheng to invite him into a threesome. WHY DIDN'T THAT HAPPEN? TT^TT
i. Anyway, for the three of them, I'd honestly just love to see them get a happy ending together. Fluff where they work out the threesome thing before things go so wrong? Fix-it fic for the end where they have to figure out how to even be around each other with all that water under the bridge, much less be anything more to each other? I'm here for ALL OF IT, as long as they somehow get a happy ending. ^_^
4. Shuang-jie:
a. I. Love. Shuang-jie. SO MUCH. I love her sense of propriety. I love her cool competence. I love her willingness to play along with a joke. I love her ability to see right through to the heart of a problem and say exactly the right thing at the right time to bring things to a solution. And I love, love, LOVE her big-sister-little-brother relationship with Fusheng.
i. What's her story? She seems to be Hong Zhengbao's constant companion, how does she fit into the Hong family hierarchy? How did she end up so close to Fusheng in the first place? Did they meet when Fusheng took over Mei Gao Mei or did know each other when they were younger? He says she's closer to him than his mother ever was, but she then refutes that she's not that old—how much older than him is she really? Did they grow up together? Anything about their backstory would be wonderful. ^_^
ii. Or just give me their day-to-day interactions. What's a day-in-the-life like for them? A young Fusheng getting into a fight going to her for kisses and cuddles? An older Fusheng going to her with a problem because he knows she won't judge him and she'll always listen? I just love her and I wish we'd gotten more than that little snapshot of how close she and Fusheng are.
5. Luo Cheng
a. GREMLIN DIDI. ^_____________^
b. OK, so I canNOT for the life of me figure out if they are supposed to be actual brothers (though their EVERY. SINGLE. INTERACTION. as well as Fusheng's particular brand of concerned overprotectiveness and their shared last name seem to indicate they are) or if Luo Cheng is just supposed to be a particularly close subordinate who took Luo Fusheng's last name or just coincidentally had the same one? I have no idea and since people call their good friends ‘ge' and ‘da-ge' all the time, that's no help, either. HOWEVER, for the purposes of fic, I like to think they are actually biologically brothers. And I love EVERYTHING about their interactions. I love how Luo Cheng is 1000% supportive of every move Fusheng makes, and yet he is still such an absolute pure little SHIT to him. The entire scene in the hospital when Luo Cheng is eating Fusheng's food right in front of him when he knows Fusheng can't eat and is teasing the hell out of him? PURE KID BROTHER VIBES. And Fusheng insisting Luo Cheng go with him later on to the bakery and then leaving him there because he needs the seat for the cake? XD I LOVE THEM. They are SUCH shits to each other, but they clearly love each other a LOT. But I have SO many questions.
i. What was their childhood like? Fusheng is at some point acknowledged as Hong Zhengbao's heir, and Luo Cheng is much lower down on the hierarchy. And that could just be age (he's like... 18/19 to Fusheng's 24, but still... ), but there's also the issue of Fusheng clearly can read while Luo Cheng said he never learned. Why treat one son of your beloved friend like your own son and heir and never make sure the other got a full education? Fusheng does mention at one point that his mother died in childbirth. Maybe it was Luo Cheng's birth, or maybe it was his own and Luo Cheng was... a by-blow, let's say? Either way, another unanswered question. So, any of their history would be fun to explore. ^_^
ii. I'd also just love any look at their relationship now. They love each other SO MUCH and they are SUCH brothers and any more of them being their snarky yet loving selves to each other would be wonderful. ^_^ And honestly, Luo Cheng's take on like... ANY of the canon awfulness, or him trying to take care of Fusheng when he's had his heart broken by someone he cares about would be lovely, too. ^_^
6. Hong Zhengbao & Hong Lan
a. I'm going to lump them in together, because what I am most fascinated by is how the two of them and Fusheng function as one SUPER fucked up family.
i. Again, any backstory about Fusheng growing up in that household would be wonderful. How did he find his footing? How did Hong Lan react to no longer being an “only” child? (You can't tell me she wouldn't have been jealous at first.) When did that change? What was it like for Fusheng to try to find his place in that house? He was the son of Hong Zhengbao's second-in-command, and now he's the heir apparent? That must have been one hell of a seismic shift in his world.
ii. And when did Fusheng figure out that Hong Lan was in love with him (because he clearly knew long before she confessed)? Did he ever try to love her back, just because he knew it would make her happy if he could? How did he navigate that relationship once it became a landmine field of potential hurt feelings? And what about that AWFUL movie date/confession? How did he feel about her after that went down? He's definitely bleeding inside from the second the lights go up in the movie house and we see him, and for the first (and last) time in the entire show we see him actively ignore Hong Lan. What was going through his mind there?
iii. And Hong Zhengbao. WOW. Yeah. That's a complicated mess. On some level (maybe because they're identical? ;D), Hong Zhengbao almost treats Fusheng as though he's Qingeng come back to him. He puts a LOT on Fusheng's shoulders. And Fusheng has a MASSIVE fealty thing going on with Hong Zhengbao. It's far more than the respect he would have even for a foster father. It's very much a King and Lionheart trope. And he understands Hong Zhengbao like few other people do. It's why he didn't fight it when he got kicked out of the family. It's why he was so unbelievably torn when Hong Zhengbao asked him to kill Ruomeng. He wasn't going to do it, but the fact that Hong Zhengbao had asked him to do something and HE COULDN'T was so anathema to his being that he literally made himself sick.
iv. What was it like for him coming up through the ranks of the Hong family? He calls Hong Zhengbao his adopted father, and by the time of the show, he's the heir apparent to the Hong family, but how did he get there? Did he have to work his way up the ranks? Or was he always destined to be the heir once Hong Zhengbao took him in? Basically, I'd love to see any piece of this relationship explored at any point in canon. ^_^
7. Lin Qikai
a. OMG, Lin-dage. I love him SO much and he deserved exactly NONE of what happened to him in canon. I love how he tries so hard to mediate between Fusheng and Xingcheng, even when everything goes fully to hell. I love how he does his best to take care of Fusheng, especially because Fusheng would be the last person to ask him to, so he has to find ways to do it sneakily. Like showing up to celebrate Fusheng's birthday the night before, so he doesn't break Fusheng's non-tradition, but he's still there for him on the eve of the most painful day of his year.
b. And I love, love, LOVE him showing up at Tianying and Fusheng's apartment the morning after Fusheng is kicked out of the Hong family. Did Fusheng actually ever reach out to him for help?
c. For that matter, did Fusheng EVER reach out to Lin Qikai for help? Where was Lin-dage after Tianying and Xingcheng ripped Fusheng's heart out? I'd love to see him stepping in at that point, maybe when Fusheng got back to Mei Gao Mei after the movie, belatedly realizing that he'd unknowingly had a hand in breaking his friend's heart and trying to do what he could to set it right.

ii. For that matter, after Tianying moves out of the apartment she and Fusheng shared, did Xingcheng ever visit for... hm... conjugal reasons? “Willing” or otherwise on Fusheng’s part?
iii. Maybe XXC even sets a guard on the Shikumen apartment so Fusheng can’t leave and keeps him there as kind of a… kept mistress, so to speak? What lengths would Fusheng go to to try to escape? Would he attempt suicide? Does anyone else start to suspect what’s going on and try to get in to see him? Maybe they find him that way.
