When Stiles next opened his eyes after that flash of blinding light, he was not where he expected to be. As he turned to look around, he almost lost his footing in the shifting sands beneath his feet and his brain mentally cataloged it as a clue to his location. Once he'd caught himself he turned again, more carefully this time, and took in the glass-like water behind him and the tremendous mountain looming beyond that. His heart sank. He didn't know this place, had never been here before... and he wasn't alone. There were hundreds of other people standing on the beach with him, maybe even thousands. Something was definitely rotten in the state of California -- if he was even still in the state of California. Somehow, he was beginning to doubt that he was.
