Rediscovering Photoshop, attempt #1
Apr. 19th, 2011 01:27 am| Will Swenson: I dare you to say he's not pretty enough, now. Haters to the back, please. ^_^ | OK, really this is a picture of Gavin Creel and Allison Case, not 100% sure where they are, but they're dressed as Claude and Crissy and the picture is just too damned adorable. ^_^ | And there are not enough Bryce-as-Woof icons out there. I needed another one. |
Comment/credit if you take, yada yada.
(Oh, why do I even bother? :-P)
Really... I should not be allowed to play with Photoshop. I think I'm done for now. O_o;;;

Date: 2011-04-19 01:50 pm (UTC)And in case you were actually curious, Gavin and Allison were at the TKTS booth doing a broadwayimpact thing to commemorate Stonewall. I guess it must have been pretty close to showtime, hence the wig. ;)

Date: 2011-04-19 05:20 pm (UTC)Ah! That makes sense. I wondered where all those pictures had come from where they're all in hair and makeup, but "normal" clothes. (Although, I note with amusement that most of those outfits would not look out of place on the Hair stage. ;D) It's sort of funny, but in my head whenever I have "future" characters of these guys that aren't set too far in the future, this set of pictures is what my head references back to. ;) (And OMG, I have plot thoughts, plot thoughts, plot thoughts! I don't want to be at woooooooooooork. *whine*)
Also...
Edit: Tables are a pain in my rear-end today. I give up.

Date: 2011-04-19 05:27 pm (UTC)And I don't know how to html tables at all, so I'm still impressed by your fancy schmancy layouting!

Date: 2011-04-19 05:31 pm (UTC)Comes of doing your own html from scratch for your website for years. Only LJ likes to screw up normal HTML formatting at a moment's whim. It is very annoying. And the monitor I'm working with is ginormous here at school, so I have no idea if the pictures are like... halfway off the page by being so big. *sigh*
I'd rather be wriiiiiiiitiiiiiiiing. *pout*
Hour and a half, hour and a half, hour and a half.
*ponder* Maybe Crissy needs a dog... Oo... that could totally be made to work in that Algea sequel. ;D
Plot thoughts, plot thoughts, happy happy plot thoughts!
(Ignore me. I think I've gone temporarily insane. -.-;;;)

Date: 2011-04-19 08:41 pm (UTC)Wait...actually, maybe I did. I just went to look at my site (it's hosted by another LJer and I kind of forget it exists at this point!) and I have a very outdated links page on there that is a table with like frames on it and shit. Apparently I DID learn it and have just completely blocked it out since then.
I approve of dogs no matter who ends up owning them.

Date: 2011-04-20 12:37 am (UTC)*pounce* *whines* You have been away from LJ for too loooooooooooong. Missed you here. *snugs*
And, I don't know. ^_^ I think you might enjoy Hair if you gave it a chance. It's pretty boys hugging and angsting all over each other. What's not to like? ;)
And yes, Will Swenson is gorgeous. *_* The reason for the caption: He's playing Tick in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, now, and one of the biggest complaints that people have about him is that he's not pretty enough. *stares at picture* *twitches* Dude... clearly they're not looking at the same thing we're looking at. Will Swenson is one of the prettiest men I "know"!
no subject
Date: 2011-04-20 12:41 am (UTC)And.. wait. Not pretty enough? What? Okay, I don't know who those people are, or anything about the show they're talking about, but if that man up there isn't gorgeous, I don't know what they could possibly expect. Hell, Fabio's got nothing on him.

Date: 2011-04-20 12:50 am (UTC)*nodnod* Seriously! (Man to the left in this icon is the same man.) Have I mentioned lately how I adore you? *beams* Will Swenson admirers of the world, unite! :D
*coughs* And for fun... have a link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIqnLQNeFcQ) -- somewhat risque... if you consider men dancing around in their underwear to Beyonce risque -- but you'll find Will at his crazy-Berger best around second 0:13. ^_^ (The other gorgeous man, being, of course, Gavin Creel. ^_^)

...
Erm...
*coughs* Well... there are no videos, of course... but Will did indeed get naked for the last scene of Act I in Hair. Gavin's too busy singing at that moment in time to get naked, but he did spend all of his most recent musical (Prometheus Bound) shirtless and in really tight jeans, chains and a collar.
^_______________^
I do love my Hair boys. *_*
Edit: LMAO!! XD G-d... why would you want to unimagine that??
no subject
Date: 2011-04-20 01:05 am (UTC)Anyway!
That wouldn't bother me, about the naked scene. People get too hung up over nudity anyway. It's a naked body, oh no, the world is going to end! Please.

Date: 2011-04-20 01:12 am (UTC)*wipes tears from eyes* OK... OK, I'll give you that one. *snerts* I hadn't thought about it that way. XD
Re: the naked scene: *nodnod* And the scene isn't sexual in any way. It really is an artistic rendering of freedom. Nothing even vaguely dirty about any of it. Sometimes people are just stupid. :-P
Really... I need to find a way to get you to see Hair. ^______~

Date: 2011-04-20 01:08 am (UTC)I'm not a Will hater...I LOVE him, but I don't think he's pretty... =/
He has an interesting 'it' about him, I think he is interesting to look at, but I don't necessarily think he's pretty >.<
Gavin and Allison!! I LOVE those two 8D
I'm not fond of Gavin's Claude, but I love that pretty boy ♥

Date: 2011-04-20 01:15 am (UTC)Oh, my... Well, we can agree to disagree on both counts. ^_^ Re: Will's prettiness: To each their own. There are plenty of guys my friends find attractive that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, so I can handle a little difference of opinion between friends. ;)
I will strongly disagree about Gavin's Claude, though -- he will forever and always be my favorite. (Paris is definitely climbing up there in the rankings lately, though.) ^_^ But, again, to each their own. You're entitled to your opinion just as much as I am. ;)
And Gavin is just the most awesome, period. ^_^

Date: 2011-04-20 01:23 am (UTC)And about Gavin's Claude, well I never watched live with the original cast, so my opinion is totally open to change. But from what I saw I thought he was too gay... I don't know... I just didn't like that much... I mean, yeahhh, he loves Berger and all of that, but he doesn't need to act gay 24/7 just because of that.
I don't even know if he does act like this in the entire musical, I never watched it, so... like I said I'm very open with that opinion. Maybe someone can try to convince me otherwise, and suddenly I'll realize what a genius performance he delivered! ;D
I'm not saying that it was bad, it didn't anoyed me at all, but I think he could have turned down the volume a little bit. Or maybe if I had saw it live I'd think differently, since I tend to like things more if I see them live. I don't know... but his interpretation just didn't clicked with me. I LOVE him, but... it just didn't appeal me. You know what I mean?
And yes, Gavin is a synonim of awesomeness 8D

Date: 2011-04-20 01:30 am (UTC)Now that I think of it, actually... Gavin really didn't play Claude particularly gay, at all. He played a pretty good balance between the two relationships and his Claude didn't come across as "gay," really, at all.
This is probably a case of needing to actually see the performance. Too bad I can't arrange that. :( *sadface*

Date: 2011-04-20 01:53 am (UTC)I think that too in here. Sheila is one of the few female lead characters that don't annoy me. This is a miracle, because I tend to not like characters with Sheila's kind of personality. I was very surprised when I watch the videos from the revival, I LOVED Caissie. I wish our Sheila was like her. Carol Puntel (the actress that plays Sheila in here) is just plain awful. Sheila is a character way too big for her. Carol doesn't sing in tune most of the time, she has an annoying voice, her acting is very flat... Yeah... she was a BIG disappointment. She doesn't connect with the actors who play Claude and Berger. And those two adorable guys are SOOOOOOOOOOOO connected with each other XD
So yeah... I always think: Who the hell is Sheila! heheh
And comming back to the Gavin topic... I still don't know... he looked gay to me >.<
But I think you are absolutely right, it's a case of needing to actually see him in action. Unfortunately... distance was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig issue! XD
Another actor I have a problem, is Kacie! XD
I mean, it's not really a problem, I just don't see Jeanie, because she reminds Lisa Kudrow SOOOOO MUCH! I'm looking at her and all I can see is Pheobe! hahahahaha
But I love her Jeanie. I don't have a problem, like I said. My problem is her looking so much like to Lisa Kudrow.
Maybe I'm tripping, but they're very alike to me ;D

Date: 2011-04-20 01:23 pm (UTC)Hmmm... yeah, I think you'd have to see him. Because, really, he didn't play off as especially gay. Maybe it's having other Claudes to compare him to. Kyle Riabko was so gay he was ridiculous -- like comical. Un. Cool. Paris (the only straight boy to play Claude in this whole run), doesn't play particularly gay, but... wait. No. He does. He and Steel are all over each other and their Sheila definitely gets left out of a lot. The one time I saw Jay A. Johnson even in bit as Claude was the Gypsy of the Year Competition and he was super-gay... but I think that was at least half because that was the plotline of the sketch they did, so I'm not sure how he was normally. And I never saw J. Groff or Christopher Hanke as Claude, but I've been told by one who did that both were awfully gay. ^_^ Gavin's the straightest Claude we've had. So... my perceptions may just be skewed by now. ;)
Re: Kacie:
I love her in that role so hard it should be illegal. *_* The person who replaced her when she was in London... *shudders* Honestly, Lisa Kudrow's not an actress that really ever comes up on my radar (never watched Friends), so I don't see the association much, but I can see how it would be distracting if you do.

Date: 2011-04-21 04:30 am (UTC)I still don't know how I can because I always end up hating characters like hers, but I love Sheila. I'd die to have a good actress here that played her, because the current one is sooooooo bad. It makes me want to go out of the theatre. I know I'm being to harsh on the Carol, but... she just don't do her job right =/
And sweetie I'd die to see Gavin in action. He's such a sweet and has a very beautiful voice ;D
Unfortunately... distance and lack of money were a big issue
=(
And about Kacie, I LOVE her Jeanie. I'm just saying that physically she looks like Lisa Kudrow to me. In my crazy demented mind they are like twins separated on birth. I always thought they were very alike! XD
This is our Jeanie (songs starts at 3 minutes) =)

Date: 2011-04-21 12:07 pm (UTC)We can agree to disagree on that one. ;D At least I've been fortunate that I've never had an actress play her that I flat-out disliked. Even though I don't care for the character, I can see how necessary she is to the plot and having a weak actress in that role would be detrimental to the whole performance.
Re: Kacie
I know! She is made of awesome! :D :D ^______^ And having now looked up pictures of Lisa Kudrow, I totally see where you're coming from on that one. They do look a lot alike. O_O;;;
And OMG, your Jeanie is so adorable! I have no idea what she's saying, but she's adorable. And I love her hair. ^_^ And I love the costumes! On the one hand, they're very similar to ours, but they're so different, too -- it's kind of neat. ^_^

Date: 2011-04-21 03:38 pm (UTC)Yes... a good one is indispensable for the play. I'd love to see Carol's substitute, because the sub has an incredible voice 8D
Kacie:
I LOVE LOVE LOVE her! I love her weird voice, is so unique! See what I meant about Lisa and her? XD
That's why I can't look at her and think of Jeanie immediately!
Our Jeanie is soooooo good. That girl is sooooo talented! She's only one year older than me! She's 21 =P
Oh and since we were talking about Claudes, this is ours. It's a big interview so the parts where he appears on the play: 0-40; 1.20-2.58; 4-5.6 (Manchester England); 5.26-6:40 (Let the Sunshine In); 8:13-9:20 (Where do I Go)

Date: 2011-04-21 10:18 am (UTC)I think Kyle Riabko is straight, so Paris is no longer the only straight dude who played Claude. I only saw Kyle on his first night, so I don't have much opinion on his performance. Except that in my head I do think of him as 'bitchy sarcastic Claude', so you know.
Jay didn't play Claude the same way that he did in that sketch. I loved Jay's Claude a lot.
Gavin definitely had the best chemistry with Sheila of the Claude's I've seen. I don't think Groff or Hanke (or Gavin or Paris or Jay or Kyle) come off as uber-gay though. I don't think you'd watch them and think they're never gonna end up with a girl in a million years. I think they all just came across as not so secretly in love with Berger (as they should).
no subject
Date: 2011-04-21 12:13 pm (UTC)Wow. Kyle's straight? I'd never have guessed it from his performance. O_O;;; (Sorry, Kyle!) But you're right, he was 'bitchy, sarcastic Claude' all the way. I think he was such a letdown after Gavin and Paris (who I'd seen understudy with the replacement cast before I ever saw Kyle), that I didn't notice much past how much I disliked his interpretation. :-P
Re: Jay
I figured as much, but it was all I'd seen of him. I'm still really sorry I never got to see him really play Claude. :( His Woof was kind of cute, though. ^_^
I think they all just came across as not so secretly in love with Berger (as they should).
Agreed. None of them came across as "gay," they just came across as loving Berger. Not the same thing at all. *nodnod* Honestly, ironically enough, Paris's Claude is the one who comes closest to acting "gay" just because he shows way more interest in Berger than Sheila -- which isn't to say he shows no interest in Sheila, it's just that it's a matter of degree -- but I still wouldn't say his mannerisms are particularly "gay."
(Was this at all coherent? *thud*)
