^_^ The point is... I lost 4 frickin' pounds this week. O_O Go stomach flu. ^_^ (Yeah, ask me how sick I was this week. Really. O_O I was so dizzy from nausea and the shakes that I actually passed out on the bathroom floor. -.-;;; New life experience: passing out... not as much fun as touted, actually.) That puts me at a grand total of 64 lbs... and a mere 11 pounds away from the top of my healthy weight ranger range. (Yeesh. Apparently, my subconscious wants to work on a PR fic... Bad subconscious. O_O) Hot damn. ^_^ Also... dude. I fit consistently into size 10 jeans now and I was able to button, zip and sit down in a pair of size 8 corduroys. @_@;;; I can't speak for the rest of you, but I'm floored. And happy. And my waist is frickin' 34 1/2 inches. XD When I started it was closer to 43 inches. *does the happy dance* And I almost fit into a pair of my mom's old jeans... which are a size 14.
What do you think, girls? Clothing manufacturers playing a hell of a trick on us to try to convince us that overweight is the new average? I sure as hell think so. When I comfortably fit into those jeans, I'll be wearing a size 8 in current sizes. They're a 14. This stuns me. And saddens me a little. As a country, our "average" size has gotten 3-4 sizes fatter than it was 40 years ago. That's kind of sad. Talk about lowering the average to meet the masses. O_o;;; And what really stuns me is that, as a whole, we haven't noticed the change. *twitch*
OK, but enough babbling about weight loss. Must babble about something else. Thanks to being bedridden for two days (and the fact that it's blessedly on Hulu, right now), I've been rewatching Jeremiah. I forgot how much I adore that series. It even makes Luke Perry kind of tolerable. ^_^ I think I will end up having to fic for it, because, dude... Marcus just demands some fic attention. Really.
And really... most of you won't know the series and won't care about the babbling, but I feel the need to babble anyway.
The general gist of the series is this: a virus wipes out the entire population of the planet over the age of puberty, thus leaving a world full of children behind to pick up the pieces. The series takes place 15 years after this disaster. Jeremiah is the main character and is a wanderer on a quest to find out what happened to his father before "the Big Death" killed him along with every other adult. Marcus is the leader of a group of people who have managed to retain much of the technological advances of the old world. He was a child prodigy before the Death and has only gotten more awesome as he got older. And he carries the weight of the whole f'ed up world on his shoulders. *_* (I'm sure you've figured out who my favorite character is by now... ^_~)
So, earlier today I was watching the Season 2 episode "Strange Attractors" and I feel the need to gush about two things, even if no one will get it:
1) Mister Smith (Yes, Mister is his first name. Don't ask.) delivers one of my favorite damned quotes in the entire series in this episode -- and don't get me wrong, there are a lot of awesome quotes in the series -- and a lot of them involve him -- but this is one of my favorites. ^_^
"Kurdy: All right ... Smith. What were the two words "God" said to you that first day?
Mister Smith: Fractal Theory.
Kurdy: What the hell is Fractal Theory?
Mister Smith: How the hell am I supposed to know? I'm just God's sock puppet, OK? He shoves his hand up my ass and words come out the other end. Who knew math was involved?"
Oh... yeah... G-d talks to Mister Smith. *snickers* And G-d has one hell of a dry, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. That is for shit-sure. XD
2) I find it simply fricking awesome that when Kurdy wants to find out what Fractal Theory is, he goes straight to Marcus and just randomly pops the question out of left field. There's just an assumption on his part that if it's weird-ass, esoteric academic knowledge that has (surely) no use in the current world, Marcus will know it anyway. And the best part? Marcus does know. And he just takes it all in stride as if it isn't the most bizarre non-sequitur and explains. ^_^ Duuuuude. Love. Marcus. Seriously. ^_^
Another reason I love Marcus? Quotes like this:
"They hit us with guns, bazookas, tear gas, tanks, APVs, helicopters, rockets. I'm pretty sure at least one of them used really harsh language."
And this:
"Lee: Don't try to talk, Marcus.
Marcus: I wasn't trying. I was succeeding. And doing a damn fine job of it."
Dude... and that was a couple of minutes after getting shot in the chest and while busy bleeding to death. ^_^
*happy sigh* Love. This. Series. I think it's settled. As soon as I'm done rewatching (and finishing off the few eps I haven't seen)... I think there will be fic. Because there isn't enough Jeremiah fic out there. ^_^
Duuuuude. And now I want Jeremiah icons. Hey,
zoicite, if I find good pictures, would you oblige me? ;D

Date: 2011-01-17 10:37 pm (UTC)I hope you're feeling better right now ^^
Well, I have no idea what size are those sizes you mentioned (I still have to learn you guys mesures XD but laziness always stop me), but taking in consideration your enthusiasm I can tell you lost a considerable weight. Just be sure you're healthy missie! =)
I never watched Jeremiah... not because I think it's bad, but because I lost the first season =P
And then it was already in the second season and I thought... ok, when the second season ends I'll start to watch it. And then I discovered it was the last season, and the TV just didn't show it anymore. To make things worse I never found the dvd so yeah... I never watched it ¬¬
I know there is online but I don't have the patience to watch movies or series on the pc... XD

Date: 2011-01-18 01:38 pm (UTC)As for learning our sizes, yikes, I wouldn't bother. O_O Our sizes make no sense and aren't even consistent -- just ask any woman buying clothes in the US. ^_^ And don't worry, I am being healthy about it. Those 64 lbs. took a little over a year to come off. You know what they say, though -- slow and steady wins the race! ^_~ (Oh, and that's 29.1 kg, if metric's your thing. ^_~)
Re: Jeremiah: Dude... Dude... you must find a way to watch it. It is an awesome show. I'm pretty sure Amazon is selling all the DVDs and if you can convince yourself to sit in front of the computer, Hulu currently has the whole series up for free. ^_^ Seriously, I need someone with whom to gush. ^_~

And I will try to watch it XD
I saw the summary and I thought it was interesting, I just have to take the time and the place to watch hehe
