OK, some of you may know that I crochet. I crochet very slowly. O_O I also knit, but I do that even more slowly. O_o;;; See... I have the same problem with crocheting that I do with writing fanfiction. When a project is new and shiny I'm very excited about it and work like mad on it for maybe a few weeks. Then... I get used to the pattern (or fandom) and it's no longer new and shiny. Then I get bored. Then I find excuses not to work on it. Then a new shiny pattern (or fandom) distracts me and the process starts all over again. O_O That's what happened with this afghan. I have at least 6 or 7 started crochet projects... and only three finished ones: A baby blanket I made for my niece (which almost doesn't count because it was a much smaller blanket than what I usually do), an afghan I made for my friend Jenny... and now this one. To give you an idea? I started this afghan in the summer of 2004. @_@;;; Yes, you heard that right. Anyway, as of last night, it's done. Now I just have to wash it to get all the kitty fur off it, then block it out and I can give it to my sister. *cheers*

Then I can get to work on one of the other seven projects I haven't finished. O_O Tina... I think yours is next. ^_^

Wow... that's absolutely beautiful, Renee! I love it! The colors are just perfect!

And...

You knit and crochet?! *tugs* I didn't know this! You have to teach me! I've tried to teach myself how to do both and.. failed miserably. I think I need someone to actually show me how to do it instead of following a book.

...can I put myself on the list for an afghan? *grins*

*beams* I'm glad you like! ^_^ It sure took me long enough... O_o;;; And I'm glad you appreciate the colors, too. Back when I originally started this thing, I decided that I didn't want to use the yarn that the pattern was designed with and trying to find substitute colors in yarns I did like was not easy. :-P

And...

Yes, yes I do. *chuckles* More crocheting than knitting, but yes, I do both. ^_^ And I'd love to teach you!

...as soon as we manage to be in the same state again. O_O At the rate I'm going being out for my stupid back, I won't be able to take a vacation for two years. :-P You wanna come to NY? *eg* ^_~

And yes, you can put yourself on the list. *chuckles* As long as you're possibly willing to wait 5-10 years for me to finish it. *wink*

I'll go through my patterns and post a list for you when I get a chance. *chuckles*

Waaah! O_O Melissa, you should not tempt me this way. O_O *shakes finger*

Here's a list of afghan patterns to chose from. (http://www.chibis.net/afghans/index3.html) @_@;;; Just let me know which one you want and I'll add it to the list. *falls over*

*laughs* As much as I'd love an afghan, I can't ask that of you. That takes far too much time and effort, and you already have your plate full. *grins* ...although that five panel throw is absolutely lovely... *coughs*

We could always do a craft trade.. I could make you a counted cross stitch piece! Although I think my craft would take significantly less time than yours would. *grins*. It's still time-consuming, but just not so much.

As for coming out to NY.. with my grandmother in the condition she's in, I wouldn't feel comfortable going so far away for any real length of time. Meh. But.. we'll see each other again, somehow.. it just may take a little while. *grins*

Well, we'll see what kind of time I have. ^_^ I'm always looking for a new project to throw into the mix. *eg* And if I'm doing it for someone else, I'm more likely to finish it. ^_~ Funny... I had a feeling that was the one you'd like. ^_^ That one or the "Shades of Blue" one. And I certainly wouldn't mind a counted cross, but again -- I wouldn't ask that of you, either. ^_^ I know you have a lot of things on your plate, too.

;_; Mmm... Is it cowardly that I've been afraid to ask about your grandma? D: How's your grandfather holding up? I can totally understand about not wanting to be away from them. *hugs* I'll tell you what -- if it looks like I'm going to be able to take any time off this year, I will let you know and we'll see if we can arrange something. And if not this year, then definitely next year. *sticks hand out* Deal? ^_^

Beautiful! How do you make the shapes? And how did you attach the squares to each other? I shall steal it now....

Thanks! *snugs* ^_^ Well, the shapes are formed by the different colors and stitches you use to make the crochet squares. They're attached by sewing them together through the back loops of each outer round. Then you crochet the edging rows around the whole thing to finish it off. ^_^

*clutches afghan* This one is for Lisa -- no can has! O_O But if you want the pattern, I'd be happy to share that. ^_^
