Ommmm... and SPN
Jul. 18th, 2010 05:48 pmFeeling very zen right now. Just got back from exploring the boardwalk fair at the beach with my mom. We had a lot of fun looking at the different booths and -- wonder of wonders -- I actually bought something. ^_^
Those of you who know me know that I used to burn a lot of scented candles. Loved them. Adored them. Problem was, after a time, they did not adore me. After years of burning candles, all of a sudden, I couldn't handle the smoke. I don't know if I got more sensitive or if I just overloaded my system, but for whatever reason, I just couldn't take it anymore. So I stopped burning candles. And things were fine... until I decided I wanted them back.
So, knowing that I couldn't burn candles, I looked into alternatives, like scented oils. Problem was, you burn those in a burner that uses a tea light... and we're right back to the candle smoke problem. :-P Well, at the fair, there was a woman selling oils that her brother blends and she had electric burners. I knew they existed, but had never found one that I liked. :-P Well... she had one that I loved. ^_^ It looks very much like a paper lantern and has an orange shield to put around the bulb so that the light comes out even warmer and more mellow than it would through the dark paper. *_* Love it!
So, I got that and four oils -- cream-sickle (orange and vanilla), strawberry-vanilla (smells kind like your body spray,
msorange21 ^_~), Home Sweet Home (orange, mulberry and cinnamon), and English Lavender (chamomile and lavender). They can also all be used as perfumes, bath oils, etc., etc. ^_^ Right now I'm burning a few drops of the cream-sickle one and I can not even begin to tell you how marvelous it smells. *_* And (knock on wood), after 30 minutes, it isn't bothering me, yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me, everyone. ^_^
On another note, have been working my way through s4 of Supernatural and came across a scene that, well... I almost peed my pants, I was laughing so hard. So, I must share. :-D It's not spoilery for the series at all, but if you want to be surprised when you get there, you may want to skip the scene description. Sam and Dean have discovered that someone had written some extremely accurate books about their adventures through the end of s3 and Sam is browsing a website devoted to said books. Sam points Dean to the computer and sits back with an extremely disturbed look on his face.
Dean starts reading some of the critiques about the storyline and how it's cliched, grumps about it, then smiles and says, "Hey! Look at this -- there are Dean girls and Sam girls and... what's a slash fan?"
Cue me almost peeing my pants #1.
I thought, "No way, no how are they going to go there. They just wouldn't." Oh... but they did. *snerts*
Sam answers, still with the extremely disturbed look of someone who desperately wishes he could unsee what he has just seen, "As in Sam-slash-Dean." ((Me: Oh G-d. They went there. :D They really went there!! *giggles madly*)) Dean looks up from the computer, extremely confused. Sam continues, "As in us. Together."
Cue me having to pause the episode because I am laughing so hard that I almost pee my pants... #2.
Dean now looks equally horrified and says, "They do know we're brothers...?"
Sam jumps in before Dean's barely done speaking, looking (if possible) even more disturbed than before with a hint of his prissy-prig face to boot, "Doesn't seem to matter."
Cue me having to pause the episode again because I almost fell off the couch from laughing... literally.
Dean, even more horrified, "That's... just sick."
*wipes tears from eyes* Oh... Oh, boys... XD XD XD It's unfortunate that you're so unbelievably close and codependent... and look so darned good together. But only for you. The rest of us will just continue to sit back and enjoy. ^_^
*blissful sigh* Only in Supernatural could this kind of crack make perfect sense... and fit in so well amongst the saving of the world from the Apocalypse. ^_^ I do so love SPN. ^_^

Date: 2010-07-18 10:14 pm (UTC)And I'm the same way with SPN. I avoided it for a long time because I'd missed it when it first came out and then stayed away because I was afraid that it was "horror." Then a friend of mine all but held a gun to my head to get me to buy the first season. It took me another year and a half to get around to watching it... and I finished off that season in two days and then ran out and bought the next three. O_o;;; Of course, I got halfway through season 2 and promptly forgot about it again. Then about a year ago I remembered it, rewatched the first half of s2 and got through half of s3... then forgot about it again. This recent spate started less than a week ago and I've finished off s3 and am 1 1/2 discs away from finishing off s4... then I have nothing until s5 comes out! D:
But, man, am I enjoying it. ;D *ponders* Speaking of which... I need to go wander over and read your SPN fics, now... since I think I'm finally past the point of spoilers being an issue. ^_~ Whee!!! I am now extremely happy in the midst of my zen. *snickers* Thanks! :D

Date: 2010-07-18 10:18 pm (UTC)I've only written one story for SPN thus far and it's an AU based on 4x17, so as long as you're past that ep, which i think you are, spoilers shouldn't be a problem.

Yup -- just watched it this morning. ^_^ Another awesome episode with the two of them getting geek-tastically excited all over each other! :D OK, now I definitely have to go read it. *eg*
