Post fic thoughts

eirenicalYou know... I just had a minor epiphany. I'm sure most of you have heard of "NaNoWriMo" or "National Novel Writing Month." The idea is essentially to write a 50,000 word (175 page) novel in the span of one month. It occurs every year and runs from November 1st to November 30th. I've never signed up before because I thought, "No way, no how, could I write that much in one month. Not possible. Only the best can do that!"
Well... I just took a look at the final word count on my latest Hair fic and got a bit of a shock -- it's only 8,000 words shy of a NaNo goal. Then I got to thinking... I've been writing an awful lot lately... I wonder what my monthly word counts total up to? So, let's take a look at the last few months, shall we? (Only completed, posted fics included.)
April 2010
Hair: Redux, started on 4/2/10, finished on 5/4/10 -- 42,102 words
March 2010
The Stone Age: 3/30/10-3/31/10 -- 3,947 words
Manchester, England: 3/23/10-3/27/10 -- 5,122 words
Aquarius: 3/9/10-3/12/10 -- 8,651 words
White Boys: 3/6/10-3/7/10 -- 2,509 words
OB 4 Rewrite: 3/21/10-3/25/10 -- 15,304 words
Total: 35,533 words
February 2010
Going Down: 2/22-3/1 -- 10,803 words
Let the Sun Shine In: 2/15/10-3/18/10 -- 22,984 words
I Believe in Love: 2/1/10-2/14/10 -- 15,036 words
Total: 48,823 words
I've been averaging about 40,000 words a month of completed fic for the last three months, at least. And this is not counting all the little things that I've been working on, but not posting, in between. O_O So... doing NaNo wouldn't be outside the realm of reality. That's... really interesting. I'm not sure what to think of that, except to say a huge "Thank You" to Hair for getting the creative well burbling again. ^_^
