eirenical: (ST TOS -- looking at my butt?)
I just saw Yank! in one of its last weeks off-Broadway before it makes the move to Broadway next season. Such a good show, though poignantly sad. It tells the hidden story of homosexuality in the military during World War II. There was a line where one of the characters is talking about how he'd like to change things, improve them for people like him, and is telling his lover that things won't get better overnight. He says that it will take a while... that it might happen by 1949 or 1950. It saddens me that 60 years later... we're still not there. :( Still, it was a fantastic show -- sad, romantic, humorous and beautiful in all the right places. Oh... and did I mention the ballet dancers? *_*

Too tired to babble more than that, but I will say this -- I highly recommend it. We need more shows like this on Broadway!
